Job Summary:
This position performs periodic audits to assess the bank’s level of compliance with various regulations and assists the bank’s Compliance Manager with maintaining regulatory documentation.
Primary Duties:
- Maintain an awareness of changes in federal and state rules and regulations.
- Conduct periodic audits of various regulatory areas, for example, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Flood Insurance, Fair Lending, Electronic Fund Transfer Act, TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosures, Truth in Savings Act, etc., and prepare written findings to be included in reports which are provided to management.
- Assess audit processes looking for ways to enhance compliance reviews.
- Assist in the review of marketing, including promotional arrangements, website advertising, written advertisements, social media advertising, radio/TV ads, etc., to ensure compliance with advertising regulations.
- Periodically review loan officer websites and social media on a sample basis to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Bank policy. Ensure all websites found have been approved.
- Assist in updating the main bank and branch CRA public files as necessary.
- Serve as a resource for staff questions regarding compliance or regulatory issues.
- Attend meetings/training classes to develop and maintain knowledge of each area of the bank.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of Bell Bank’s products and services.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Know, understand, and live the company values and bottom line.
- Conduct activities consistent with established Bell Bank policies, procedures and systems, the Bell Bank Employee Conduct policies, the Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.
- All employees are responsible for information security including compliance with policies and standards which protect sensitive information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Compliance Manager or by Bank management.
Job Skills Required:
- B.A. in accounting, finance, or business related field; alternatively, bank-related job experience will be considered (minimum two years).
- Basic knowledge of lending and deposit banking regulations, disclosures and documentation helpful (or willingness to learn).
- Ability to read, comprehend, and conduct research on banking regulations to provide understanding, interpretations, or clarifications.
- Ability to show initiative and to learn quickly to keep pace with changing regulatory environment.
- Strong degree of organizational and time management skills to work independently in an efficient manner.
- Ability to be flexible, work with interruptions, and changing priorities in a productive manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented and able to prioritize and complete tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative, cohesive, and cooperative team environment.
