Job Summary
We are actively seeking a Regional Field-Testing Manager to join our Research and Development Department. The Reginal Field Testing Manager will lead the establishment of a breeding operations program in the Manitoba and North Dakota region. All regional operational activities of the pulse breeding program are within the responsibilities of the manager including recruiting & leading personnel, working with cooperators for growing yield trial and nursery fields, new and innovative ways of plant phenotyping, acquisition, operation, & management of equipment, budget management, etc. The Field Testing Manager must have a strong background in field research and solid agronomic capabilities. Excellent organization, communication, and leadership capabilities are additional traits of a successful candidate.
You’ll make an impact by: (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)
- Leading station personnel in the establishment and execution of work plans
- Managing yield trial establishment and maintenance, nursery establishment & maintenance
- Working closely with the breeding team to align operations with program objectives
- Managing station operations and capital budgets
- Establish methods for plant phenotyping
- Maintaining a broad range of existing technical skills and can quickly learn new skills
- Identifying inefficiencies in processes and works collaboratively to make improvements
- Developing station personnel to achieve personal and work goals
You have:
- Education: Minimum Requirement is BS degree in relevant field plus 5 years of related experience
- Qualifications/Skills: Strong leadership capability, preference for 2 years’ experience leading people, deep knowledge of breeding operations, experience managing field research data, working knowledge of small plot equipment and operations, pesticide applicators license or ability to obtain, CDL license or ability to obtain, familiarity with budget management.
