What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Training Officer position at Benton County, WA?
We are preparing our biennium budget (2023-2024) that will include additional officers being hired. We currently have two vacancies and one in the background. As you all are aware we need to continue to be extremely aggressive in our hiring. We would hate to lose a good candidate due to a lack of availability of an FTO. With that, we are wanting to add some FTO’s to our team to balance the demand and give current FTO’s a much-needed break. If you are interested in being selected as an FTO, you will need to have a letter of interest turned into Lt. Kist by Monday October 24, 2022.
Eligible applicants are those that have completed their probationary period. This rewarding position will require a high level of Teamwork, Integrity, and Commitment. Selected FTO(s) will attend formalized training conducted through CJTC after being selected.
After submission of the letter of interest, each applicant will participate in a command interview. A selection will be made based upon the applicant’s overall performance in the interview and work history. Your letter of interest should articulate the following: your degree of correction’s experience, prior performance history, and any special assignments or training. Additionally, you should possess good organization skills, computer skills, be self-motivated and understand and support the Benton County Corrections Department Mission and Vision statements and department Values.
FTO positions are compensated according to Appendix A of the controlling collective bargaining agreement. A sign-up sheet will be available to indicate your interest. You are required to sign off on this form to assist in determining if all eligible employees have been informed of the opportunity.
