The Underwriter is responsible for analyzing and underwriting potential loans on complex commercial real estate loan applications across a broad spectrum of asset types. The main duty of the Underwriter is to determine whether the transaction and the potential borrower presents an acceptable level of risk.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and review borrower credit information and structure, third party reports, property financial and physical information to determine deal viability.
- Perform site inspection due diligence to evaluate market competitiveness of the proposed collateral and to determine economic feasibility of the projected income stream.
- Prepare underwriting narratives and independent cash flow value estimates, focusing on large, complex transactions, including multifamily, office, retail, and construction loan deals.
- Present recommendations to the appropriate approval committee, including all key documentation (term sheets, applications, commitments, credit memos, etc.).
- Communicate consistently with the Company’s mortgage banking network and manage borrower clients through the approval and closing process.
- Collaborate with loan officers, loan closers, and legal counsel to move loan requests through the approval and closing process.
- Conduct and participate in customer meetings and conference calls.
- Cross-train across the Company’s various products and exit strategies to cultivate ability to underwrite a variety of deal types.

Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and move quickly through assignments to ensure deadlines are met.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Three to five years prior experience in a similar position.
