Responsibilities
The Vice President of Human Resources reports to one or more operating unit Presidents and has overall responsibility for developing and executing the human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the operating units, including but not limited to succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, compensation and benefits administration, diversity, inclusion, employee engagement and training and development. The VP of HR acts as a trusted partner to the leadership teams of assigned operating units and is the key liaison and partner with Group HR to contribute to operating unit strategies and initiatives as they relate to talent. S/he may lead a team of 1-3 HR Managers who support the same operating units.
Qualifications
- Minimum seven years progressive HR experience with significant experience in HR leadership and team supervision
- Insurance industry experience is ideal
- Have a firm understanding of the business of the company and its operations—ensuring that guidance is based on business needs as well as employee needs
- Ability to work across the organization to achieve results
- Able to proactively identify areas for process improvement, innovation and opportunities for efficiency and synergy
- Ability to manage and influence in a cross-functional matrix environment
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
- Strong discretion in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information exhibited at all times
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Strong customer orientation including strong interpersonal, communication and consultation skills
- Ability to make decisions incorporating diverse perspectives
- Travel requirements up to 25-40% of time
