Who You Are:
A highly motivated team player with a passion for Life Safety and water-based Sprinkler Systems who would like to contribute to the growth of the Sprinkler Division at BSGI. You are someone who wants to provide world class service to our customers through continued education and growth in the Life Safety industry. In this role, you will inspect, install, maintain, and repair water-based life safety systems under direct supervision. The position entails:
- Installing, moving, and modifying water-based Sprinkler Systems according to job order specifications, standards, and procedures
- Diagnosing equipment malfunctions as required to ensure a working, functional system
- Maintaining and reporting accurate records of hours worked and materials used
- Updating project managers and/or Sprinkler Division Manager daily on job progress
- Reading, interpreting and updating engineering drawings and/or blueprints
- Anything necessary for the Sprinkler Division's continued success
Where You’ll Be Located:
- Ideally, you're located in Central, Eastern, or Southern PA within reasonable driving distance to one of our three offices in Reading, PA; York, PA; and State College, PA.
- Daily commute to our Reading, York, and State College offices is not necessary.
- Daily travel to customer sites primarily throughout the state of Pennsylvania, including occasional overnights, is necessary.
- You must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and minimal traffic violations to drive a company vehicle.
Requirements
What You Bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 1 year of water-based Sprinkler System installation and service experience and/or related experience required
- OSHA 10 Safety Training Certification required
- Basic mechanical aptitude, with ability to read/utilize a multi-meter and use hand and power tools safely required
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
- Ability to operate a smartphone for communication, documentation, GPS, calendar, and other professional functions required
- Excellent customer service skills to interface with clients on-site required
- Ability to respond with flexibility to changing situations required
- Multi-tasking and prioritization skills required
- Detail-oriented focus for documentation and thorough job completion required
- Strong organizational skills for tools, equipment, and documentation required
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and operating manuals required
- Ability to work at heights on ladders, scissor lifts, and boom bucket trucks required
- NICET I certification (Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems) preferred
- Backflow certification (Test, Service, & Repair) preferred
- CPVC certification preferred
- Training in general safety and quality systems awareness a plus
Physical Requirements:
Physical Fitness: Possess the physical ability to ascend/descend ladders and stairs, and access elevated areas to inspect system components installed at various heights.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Must have hand dexterity to manipulate and handle materials.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a daily continuous basis. Any lifting over 50 pounds will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
Mobility: Ability to move freely and safely within tight spaces, crawl spaces, attics, and other areas where systems are installed.
Vision: Possess visual acuity in at least one (1) eye of 20/40 or better combined vision without corrective lenses or over 20/70 combined vision with corrective lenses. Possess ability to distinguish colors.
