Project Manager/ Mechanical Engineer - Energy as a Service Projects (Hybrid)

This position offers a hybrid schedule and can be based out of our offices in Little Rock, AR, Fayetteville, AR, Baton Rouge, LA, Birmingham, AL, Salt Lake City, UT, Tempe, AZ, Oklahoma City, OK, Dallas, TX, Houston, TX, Nashville, TX

Primary Purpose

The Project Manager I is responsible for the entire life cycle of a project from inception to closure. Ensures the project is delivered efficiently and effectively in accordance with the project scope, schedule, deliverables, risks, and expectations to deliver a successful project and exceed the Client’s expectations.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include:

• Participate in business development activities through responses to the Request For Qualifications (RFQ), Request For Proposal (RFP), and participation in project interview presentations.
• Work with the Client (internal or external) to define the project scope, schedule, deliverables, risks, and expectations to deliver a successful project.
• Develop a proposal to document the project scope, schedule, deliverables, measures of success, and associated fees.
• Develop an internal Work Plan to define revenue and budgets for the following: hours, internal cost, travel, and sub-consultants. Also, estimate reimbursable amounts.
• Ensure the revenue and budget estimates are entered into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to accurately reflect the execution of the project.
• Work with Leadership to ensure the project is correctly resourced per the established budgets and schedule.
• Schedule the project tasks and resources to ensure the agreed-upon schedule is met within the budget constraints established.
• Establish a project Kick-Off meeting and ensure all team members and Clients are effectively communicated with throughout the project.
• Manage team members and sub-consultants to ensure project objectives are met.
• Continuously track and report project execution against budget in terms of schedule adherence, deliverables, cost, and revenue.
• Where appropriate, technically direct/execute aspects of the project.
• Manage/exceed the client’s expectations.
• Ensure the project is closed out and all commercial aspects are completed.
• Participate in relevant organizations for networking and professional development.
• Any other duties as assigned by Company Leadership.

This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the Engineering Director.

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in a Technical or Engineering discipline, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering design.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience leading and managing a team of technical staff. 
• Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills. 

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Project Management Institute (PMI) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) qualification.
• Successful completion of the Bernhard Project Management training for internal candidates.
• Professional Engineer License

 Travel Requirements

• Depending on project need and location, estimated to be around 20-30% of the regular work schedule.  

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

• Long periods of sitting or standing at a desk in front of a computer in the office environment, which is usually quiet.
• Ability to walk, climb, and crawl on a project construction site on occasion.
• Exposed to inclement weather.
