Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner specializing in Neonatology to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to preterm and critically ill newborns in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Your primary focus will be on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of neonatal conditions, ensuring the well-being and optimal health outcomes for our youngest patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments of newborn patients, including reviewing medical histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account the unique needs and conditions of each neonate.
- Administer medications, therapies, and treatments as prescribed, closely monitoring patient responses and adjusting plans accordingly.
- Provide education and guidance to families regarding neonatal care, including feeding methods, developmental milestones, and preventative measures.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies, ensuring the immediate stabilization and appropriate interventions for critically ill newborns.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner, utilizing an electronic medical records system.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects aimed at enhancing neonatal healthcare practices.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements and evidence-based practices in neonatology through continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's degree in Nursing with a specialization in Neonatology.
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
- Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) by an accredited board.
- Proven experience in a neonatal setting, preferably as an NP.
- Solid knowledge of neonatal physiology, development, and common conditions.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic medical records systems.
