Job Title: PCU (Progressive Care Unit) NurseJob Summary:The PCU nurse is responsible for providing high-quality patient care to individuals in the Progressive Care Unit of the healthcare facility. This role requires expertise in monitoring and managing patients, administering medications, collaborating with the healthcare team, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes.Responsibilities and Duties:1. Perform comprehensive health assessments on patients admitted to the PCU.2. Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and oxygen levels.3. Administer prescribed medications and document therapeutic effects.4. Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and implement individualized patient care plans.5. Evaluate and modify care plans based on patient responses and changing conditions.6. Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.7. Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques.8. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health record systems.9. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity and coordination of care.10. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients.11. Foster a compassionate and supportive environment for patients and their families.12. Stay updated on the latest evidence-based practices and actively participate in professional development activities.13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.14. Effectively communicate and collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and their families.15. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all patient interactions.Qualifications and Skills:1. Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.2. Bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred) or associate degree in nursing.3. Demonstrated experience in PCU or a related acute care setting.4. Sound knowledge of cardiac rhythms, critical care medications, and invasive monitoring.5. Excellent critical thinking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.6. Strong ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.7. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.8. Empathy, compassion, and a commitment to patient-centered care.9. Proficient in using electronic health record systems.10. Basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.11.
