Job Title: RN Inpatient Telemetry Med-Surg Adult
Job Summary:
As an RN Inpatient Telemetry Med-Surg Adult, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive and compassionate nursing care to adult patients with medical and surgical conditions, focusing on telemetry monitoring. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, administer medications, monitor vital signs and telemetry readings, and ensure overall patient well-being.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct initial patient assessments and regular monitoring of patients admitted to the inpatient telemetry med-surg unit.
2. Administer medications and treatments while closely monitoring patient response and observing any adverse reactions.
3. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including electronic documentation, to ensure continuity of care.
4. Collaborate with the patient's interdisciplinary healthcare team to create and implement individualized care plans.
5. Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, medications, and self-care techniques.
6. Monitor and interpret telemetry readings to identify any abnormalities in cardiac rhythms and promptly notify the physician or nurse practitioner.
7. Respond effectively to critical situations by utilizing advanced medical knowledge and following established protocols.
8. Assist in coordinating patient care activities, including scheduling diagnostic tests and consultations with specialists.
9. Ensure a safe and clean environment by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining equipment.
10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based practice to enhance patient outcomes.
11. Provide emotional support to patients and their families, ensuring a compassionate and comforting environment.
12. Stay updated with current trends and advancements in medical-surgical nursing, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac care.
13. Collaborate with nursing colleagues and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and plans.
14. Adhere to ethical and legal standards in nursing practice, maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
15. Demonstrate professionalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic healthcare setting.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. Minimum of one year of nursing experience in an acute care setting, preferably in telemetry or med-surg.
3. BSN degree or higher preferred.
4. Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
5. Proficient in utilizing telemetry equipment and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips.
6. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
8. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently to meet patient care needs.
9. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain positive working relationships.
10. Flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs, staffing requirements, and a fast-paced healthcare environment.
11. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and medication administration.
12. Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to nursing practice.
