Full Job Description
Betensky Law PLLC is a small law firm located in Mount Kisco, New York. Our primary practice areas are residential and commercial real estate and trusts & estates. We also practice in related areas such as environmental law, land use/zoning, telecommunications and corporate law. Our office is located in a professional office building with free off-street parking, and within walking distance of the train station, shopping and restaurants, a gym and major highways.
We are seeking an experienced, organized, self-motivated candidate for a full time Paralegal position to primarily handle commercial leases, and purchase and sale of commercial and residential real estate in our newly constructed Mount Kisco office. The ideal candidate will be able to develop and maintain a good working, professional relationship with our clients, colleagues, lenders, and realtors. Our work is sometimes fast-paced though we always strive to maintain a positive, professional work environment and with strong communication, strategic planning and organization we often avoid last-minute “fire drills.” The ideal candidate will thrive in both a relaxed and fast-paced environment with the number one goal always being to assist our clients with achieving their goals.
Job Responsibilities
Open and close client files
Client contact via telephone and email
Draft e-mail and letter correspondence with all parties
Draft residential Contracts of Sale, riders, addenda, amendments and draft all subsequent documents pertaining to the closing
Draft Commercial Leases and prepare, send and track lease execution packages
Draft basic trusts & estates documents including Last Will and Testament, Living Wills/Health Care Proxy, HIPAA release forms and Powers of Attorney. Send copies of executed documents to clients and close out files.
Proofread legal documents for formatting, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Title Work including title review, title clearing, ordering tax continuations, etc.
Schedule Closings
Prepare closing statements and closing binders
Limited office tasks ordinarily associated with a small firm such as sending and receiving mail, scanning, copying, shredding, liaising with IT and telephone consultants when necessary and ordering basic supplies when necessary, and similar duties.
Job Qualifications
Minimum education of bachelor’s degree
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a real estate law
Work collaboratively on a team
Meticulous attention to detail
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Amicus Online and Quickbooks is a plus
