The Student Respiratory Therapist (SRT) assists Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) by providing the most basic respiratory treatments and procedures. The SRT performs patient and family care under general supervision, of a licensed respiratory therapist. The incumbent performs airway clearance, administers aerosolized medications and oxygen therapy. The SRT reports directly to the Respiratory Care Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs duties of Respiratory Care, including therapy and monitoring, as designated in their limited Respiratory Therapy license, as approved by the Massachusetts Board of Respiratory Care
- This position is responsible for patient care including: examination, evaluation, and administration of Respiratory Care procedures in response to a physician's order.
- Under the guidance of a CRT or RRT, evaluates effectiveness of therapy and provides feedback to provider when adjustments to care necessary.
- With direct oversight from a CRT or RRT, may assist with management of invasive and noninvasive ventilation.
- Maintains proper department/hospital records.

Education/Experience Required:
- Enrolled in an AMA approved program for Respiratory Care
Registration/Certification:
- Current Massachusetts RT limited licensure required
- AHA BLS certificated required
