Position description:
The unit manager assumes twenty-four hour responsibility and accountability for delivery of quality resident care, adherence to approved budget, personnel management, and administration of an assigned unit. Functions as a staff resource and a role model which influences attitudes, modifies behaviors, and provides staff development. Interacts with fiscal intermediaries, third party payers, and meets the facility regulatory and skilled documentation standards. Unit manager is responsible for monitoring quality of care provided on the unit through audits, rounding on resident care, interacting with the physician/NP/PA, and communicating with the various IDT members. Reports directly to the DON/CNO and is responsible for keeping the DON/CNO informed of unit activities, personnel issues and patient/family conditions.
Pay: Salary- based on experience
Schedule:
Full time, 8:00am - 5:00pm - No remote work
Duties:
- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates standards of resident care on the nursing unit.
- Serves as clinical resource to staff and facility in assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting total resident care.
- Participates in departmental, interdepartmental, and interdisciplinary committees.
- Coordinates and collaborates with the MDS Nurses to maintain adherence and accuracy of the MDS process.
- Monitors documentation on charts in coordination with policies and procedures, regulations, and utilization review, including, but not limited to, admission, transfer, and discharge data.
- Develops and/or implements unit-based nursing quality assurance program. Supports and participates in the facility-wide quality assurance program.
- Complies with Administrative policies, Nursing Department policies and procedures, Infection Control guidelines, the Disaster and Fire Plans, as well as standards and local and state health care regulations.
- Responsible for staff education and competency.
- In conjunction with the Human Resources Department, hires, promotes, and terminates employees, adjusts salaries, and approves transfers for employees in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization and all federal and state laws regarding the privacy of protected health information.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization regarding the use of technology and technology-based information.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications: Due to our federal funding, we are a drug free workplace (including marijuana). A pre-employment drug screen is required for all positions.
- Graduate from an accredited RN or LPN school of nursing. (Bachelor’s Degree preferred). Current RN or LPN licensure. CPR certification.
- Proven nursing leadership. (2 year minimum long term care leadership experience preferred).
