GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Instructional Facilitator is a master teacher responsible for partnering with school administration and district leadership to provide support to teachers in the elements of research-based instruction aligned to standards and assessments. He/she will support teachers in developing instructional strategies, design teacher professional learning opportunities, provide teachers with an understanding of current research, integrate technology into instruction, and support new teachers. The Instructional Facilitator will play a key role in enhancing students learning by supporting instructional effectiveness through facilitation of teacher collaboration; individual coaching; professional development planning and facilitation; and strategic reform planning and leadership. This Instructional Facilitator’s work will focus on supporting teachers working in Fine Arts and Health and Fitness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist teachers and professional learning communities (PLCs) in the implementation of research-based instructional strategies.
- Apply strategies of adult-learning across teacher leadership activities for teacher professional learning.
- Provide demonstration lessons in curriculum and teaching techniques for classroom teachers and others.
- Collaborate with the Directors of Teaching and Learning in continued alignment of the Standards with district curriculum and assessments.
- Assist teachers and schools in using assessment data to inform instruction and school improvement plans.
- Support data-driven instructional decision-making.
- Build learning, collegial relationships with individual staff members.
- Attend planning meetings with other TOSAs and the district Teaching and Learning department.
- Effectively manage projects and time with clear outcomes and results.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
This position receives a $4,000 stipend for functions related to those above that extend beyond the regular workday/work year. A non-exhaustive list of those activities includes content leader meetings, induction meetings, Springboard training, LIT trainings, curriculum adoption/selection meetings, and other special projects. These activities are subject to change and not all meetings/trainings/other activities are attended by all TOSAs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree with valid and appropriate certification.
- 5 years of successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to achieving success for all students.
- Experience in leadership activities.
- Ability to articulate ideas and communicate well with others in spoken and written mediums.
- Ability to organize ideas, coordinate multiple tasks and materials to accomplish goals.
- Ability to organize time and commit to a flexible work schedule.
- Experience collaborating with teachers and administration around instructional practices.
- Demonstrated strong instructional skills.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a range of people.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Masters Degree and/or National Board Certification preferred. Experience on state and/or district instructional committees.
