3 North Tower Medical Surgical Nurse Manager

Job Description: The 3 North Tower unit provides care to patients with both medical and/or flex telemetry care needs. Manages the daily operations of the nursing unit(s)/department(s). Responsibilities include management of resources, process improvement activities, staffing and scheduling, and assuring delivery of safe, effective, timely patient care in areas of responsibility. Monitors financial performance of department(s) and assures expenses and productivity align with workload and meets fiscal targets. Leads departmental activities and monitors care provided to comply with quality and customer service goals. Assure good two-way communication with staff. Lead/participate in multidisciplinary and interdepartmental initiatives to improve care, services, and efficiencies. May need to assist with patient care on nursing unit. REQUIREMENTS: Current unrestricted licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Kentucky required. Bachelor of Science in nursing or related area with three years recent clinical and three years management experience at the charge nurse level or above required, or higher. Expertise in commonly used computer software usage and ability to learn new computer programs quickly required. Competence in professional nursing practice including teaching, leadership and management skills required. Excellent clinical/critical thinking skills, organizational, analytical, fiscal, and customer service skills required. BLS preferred upon hire, required within 90 days of hire. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three or more years of experience as manager preferred. Recent experience in specialty preferred.
