Job Description: Director, Emergency Services Job Summary: The Nurse Director has a 24-hour accountability for patient care and customer service (Alignment), staff leadership (Advance), quality improvement (Expand), financial viability (Excel), as well as strategic planning (Alignment). Maintain the role of the Stroke Coordinator and will maintain the stroke program that complies with national standards for quality of care for stroke patients as recommended by American Heart Association (AHA) and American Stroke Association (ASA), and governmental regulation for Medicare compliance. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor; which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time. 1. Directs and supervises patient care. 2. Promotes staff development and leadership 3. Establishes and utilizes mechanisms for continuous quality improvement 4. Assures the financial viability of the unit 5. Oversees the environmental issues of the unit 6. Participates in the hospital strategic plan 7. Serves as Hospital Stroke Coordinator Minimum Education, Training and Experience: RN currently licensed in Kentucky required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Master’s Degree preferred. Specialty certification preferred. Three to five years recent leadership strongly desired 5 years clinical experience required. Creativity, resourcefulness, superior communication skills and the ability to work independently.
