What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Test Technician position at Big Ass Fans?
Big Ass Fans is looking for an Electrical Test Technician to support the development of new products and modification of existing products. This shall be accomplished through the use of technical training and critical thinking. This covers products ranging from ceiling fans to evaporative coolers.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and testing of new fan products.
- Selection of electrical components based on system requirements.
- Development and documentation of wiring schematics.
- Assist in the development of new product designs by reviewing sketches, descriptions, specifications, and supporting documents; confer with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and product designers.
- Develop test procedures for new technology evaluation.
- Provide technical options with cost analysis for evaluation by product managers.
- Work with Program Managers in CFT meetings to track tasks and progress within projects.
- Define and document product specifications and requirements.
- Analyze product designs using Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis techniques.
- Conduct preliminary physical tests to develop the design concept/ prototype.
- Prepare test plans for physical testing to confirm/validate design.
- Verify that designs are in compliance with relevant codes and standards; including EMC requirements.
- Construct and evaluate prototypes.
- Interface with Program Managers, Quality, and Manufacturing personnel as required bringing new products from concept to production.
- Interface with vendors and suppliers on the design of purchased and custom components.
- Work with minimal supervision on multiple projects, in a consensus-based team environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in product design and development or a 2-year degree in a related field.
- Electrical training required.
- Experience using google software suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral format.
- Out of the box, creative thinker with product design and development, material, hands-on and continuous improvement experience.
