What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Engineer position at Big Ass Fans?
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with vendors in designing product packaging.
- Test packaging for new fan products.
- Assist in the development of packaging for new product designs by reviewing sketches, descriptions, specifications, and supporting documents; confer with other engineers and product designers.
- Develop test procedures for testing new packaging.
- Provide technical options with cost analysis for evaluation by product managers.
- Utilize Wrike to track tasks and progress within projects.
- Prepare detailed packaging drawings using SolidWorks.
- Work with marketing to document new artwork designs for customer-facing packaging.
- Conduct physical tests to validate packaging design concept(s)/ prototype(s).
- Prepare test plans for physical testing to confirm/validate packaging design.
- Confirm packaging designs are in compliance with relevant codes and standards; confer with compliance engineers.
- Work with vendors to get prototypes and implement improvements.
- Interface with Program Managers, Quality, and Manufacturing personnel as required bringing new packaging from concept to production.
- Interface with vendors on various packing cost reduction projects.
- Work with minimal supervision on multiple projects, in a consensus-based team environment.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or Packaging Engineering
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in product design and development
- Experience using a google software suite
- Ability to communicate effectively in a written and oral format
- Out of the box, creative thinker with product design and development, material, hands-on and continuous improvement experience
