What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Engineer position at Big Ass Fans?

A Big Ass Fans Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting all BAF sales teams and applications designers with expert-level technical product and application knowledge. This individual will serve as the voice of technical expertise throughout the sales cycle by providing on-site technical guidance, data analysis, report documentation, and technical presentations.


Responsibilities
  • Support all BAF sales teams and applications designers with expert-level technical product and application knowledge.
  • Drive complex, novel, and intricate applications of BAF products with on-site technical guidance at multiple points in the sales cycle.
  • Present technical information and findings to a wide customer audience range - from maintenance techs to career academics.
  • Provide advanced application services such as energy modeling, advanced on-site data collection, or application data analysis to provide technical guidance and data-driven solutions to high-value customers.
  • Summarize findings and recommendations in written technical reports.
  • Serve as the voice of technical expertise to the customer during sales presentations and all other interactions.
  • Coordinate with other BAF engineering teams on projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with product management teams to provide NPI support including BIM and CAD files for customer use.
  • Assist the department manager in creating and maintaining support documentation as well as developing sales support tools.
  • Assume the role of Application Designer as needed:
    • Develop application-specific product and design recommendations for HVLS fan and other HVAC equipment projects to meet customer goals using AutoCAD and.
    • Proficiency in the development of clear and concise engineering drawing notation and documentation as well as the ability to interpret technical drawings or technical RFP/RFQ documents from customers.
    • Prioritize and manage sales team requests for application support based on customer deadlines, project value, and required expertise.
    • Communicate relevant and easily digestible technical information via SalesForce CRM and email communications.
    • Work in cross-departmental teams to develop the best solutions.
    • Proficiency in working with standard office applications (email, Microsoft Office, Google Drive) and SalesForce CRM.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Engineering Field (ME preferred)
  • Exemplary technical communication skills. Communicate efficiently and effectively in a
    professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, accurately, and without consistent oversight
  • Familiar with typical mechanical and electrical building systems
  • Available for travel up to 50%
