What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospice Education Liaison position at Big Bend Hospice, Inc.?
The Hospice Education Liaison works collaboratively with the Big Bend Hospice (BBH) Director of Medical Education & Research to plan, develop, promote, implement, and deliver community-facing hospice education modules, programs, and presentations representing Big Bend Hospice’s mission and services.
The Hospice Education Liaison is responsible for connecting with healthcare referral sources such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, community physician groups, as well as professional, educational, civic, and public communities to deliver information and education designed to enhance understanding of Big Bend Hospice (BBH) program services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
(duties include, but are not limited to)
Develops a network of contacts to facilitate collaboration and communication with external professional and community stakeholders, which may include medical staff, practicing clinicians, higher learning institutions, community organizations and other groups to identify opportunities to provide hospice and palliative care education opportunities.
Engages with and collaborates with BBH leaders and resources to collect and analyze data from community stakeholders to identify programming needs, and proactively develop and implement targeted educational presentations to various audiences within the BBH service area to increase and identify eligible community census for hospice care.
Presents hospice education modules in professional and non-professional settings, including current and future patients and caregivers of BBH.
Ensures consistency in messaging and presentation in alignment with BBH marketing and communication programming. Receives, reviews, and responds to community requests for educational presentations.
Ensures clear communication with internal BBH resources and teams to avoid duplication of efforts or conflicts related to presentations designed to drive certain programs (volunteers, veterans, etc.).
Provides community education on advance care planning, and end-of-life doula services.
With the approval of leadership may host public forums for community discussions and presentations.
Identifies internal BBH resources/subject matter experts and submits requests for specialized education support to their immediate supervisor and senior leader for approval, further clarification, assignment, or delegation.
Develops and fosters relationships with professionals such as medical staff, practicing clinicians, higher learning institutions, community stakeholders, and other groups and entities to discover and develop education opportunities and create conduits of connectivity.
Understands and communicates the strategic objectives of BBH and develops community and profession-facing education modules highlighting services provided and the benefits of these services.
Remains current on industry knowledge, trends, and hot topics through research, relative professional memberships, and participation in educational opportunities.
Upon request, attends industry conferences representing BBH and provides approved presentations.
Serves as a positive and professional representative of BBH to the community and professional contacts.

Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in communication, education, marketing, psychology, healthcare, business, or related field.
- Minimum of three years of hospice experience required.
- Knowledge of hospice and health industry trends.
- Minimum of 5 years of community education, training, or public speaking experience.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and medical software systems.
- Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance.
