Big Spring Spirits is looking for a Tasting Room/Cocktail Bar Manager at our tasting room location in Sewickley, PA.
JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Tasting Room Manager, Sewickley
1) Summary/objective of Tasting Room Manager
1. Manage the tasting room with an emphasis on spirit sales
a. through cocktails and bottle purchases
b. providing knowledgeable service to all guests
c. offering tastings to any guest who inquires
d. serve as lead bartender
e. Hours of operation: T, W, Th 4p-10p, F & S 12p-12a, Sun 10a-4p
2) Essential functions
1. Serve as Manager-on-Duty
a. Open/close facility
b. Make sure staff is in place for shift
c. Make sure cash drawer has been counted
d. Menus are up-to-date and printed
e. Seating guests, delivering menus and tasting sheets to all guests
f. Facilitate any needs of the front-of-house staff (getting change, hooking up new tap cocktail, general assistance)
g. Ensuring staff are able to deliver food and beverage in a timely manner and if not, find ways to expedite and keep drink ticket times down.
h. Monitoring the ebb and flow of guests in the tasting room so as to appropriately cut staff at the right time; and then monitoring business once staff are cut to ensure proper care of guests continues
i. Being aware of guest alcohol consumption and monitoring service
j. Supervising completion of all side-work at opening and closing
k. Running end-of-shift reports and entering shift notes and gratuities in the Daily Sheet binder.
l. Dropping deposit in the safe/bank
m. Locking up and setting alarm at end of shift
n. Overseeing food ordering
2. Personnel
a. Scheduling of personnel
b. Identify two staff as keyholders
c. Ensuring staff are in uniform and performing tasks according to procedures established by management/corporate.
d. Ensuring staff are trained and fully aware of:
i.) Spirit/RTD knowledge—components/ingredients, abv, flavor profile, pricing
ii.) Company history
iii.) Tasting flight procedure
3. Inventory
a. Weekly inventory of
i. spirits and bottled ready-to-drink cocktails
ii. Cocktail ingredients
iii. Tasting sheets for spirits and cocktails
iv. Retail merchandise
v. Glassware
vi. Maintaining attractive retail area
4. Marketing/Social Media
a. Creating local content for social media posts
b. Gathering email addresses for corporate newsletter
c. Maintaining local events calendar
5. Other Expectations
a. Run FOH staff meetings as needed
b. Attend corporate weekly staff meetings
c. Training of new employees
d. Private party booking, detailing and supervising
e. Managing inventory maintenance on Toast POS
f. Payroll
g. Weekly deposit
Manager will need to have or obtain a Food Safety Management certification from a PA approved source.
Manager needs bar management experience.
