Summary Description:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our payroll system and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in our payroll processes. In addition to the timely processing of bi-weekly payrolls, the successful candidate will also oversee payroll tax, compliance, and reconciliation. This position will also serve to direct, guide, and support field HR and Payroll resources with respect to the payroll system and associated processes.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage and administer the payroll module within Dayforce HCM system, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Implement and test system changes, upgrades, and new features related to payroll processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement payroll tax changes and updates including but not limited to state and local business registration.
- Administer and process bi-weekly payrolls.
- Maintain payroll process workflows and documentation.
- Provide guidance, process and technical support, as well as training, to field personnel and end-users of system functionality and best practices related to payroll processing.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy in payroll system through regular quarterly and annual audits and validations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and recommend system or process enhancements related to payroll processing.
- Collaborate with external vendors and tax advisors related to Ex-Patriot payroll calculations and associated international tax compliance.
- Stay abreast of payroll tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements; ensure compliance.
- Conduct research on payroll and tax related issues and provide guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure appropriate reconciliation to payroll tax accounts is being managed and discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner. This involves work with both internal finance resources as well as external vendor resources.
- Submit and manage ticketing process for payroll tax notices and inquiries.
- Manage special projects and initiatives related to payroll tax and compliance.
- Other HRIS and Payroll duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Minimum Required Skills:
- Understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements at local, state, and federal levels.
- Ability to interpret tax laws and/or work with internal or external counsel or other tax resources as appropriate.
- Proficiency with payroll systems and system administration.
- Comfort with assessing and reacting to payroll tax and compliance regulatory changes.
- Ability to troubleshoot system issues and perform system configurations and upgrades.
- Ability to document processes, procedures, and system changes effectively.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience with international payrolls is a plus.
- Payroll experience in Ohio, Pennsylvania, or other state with large number of local taxes.
Required Experience
Minimum Required Experience and Education:
- BS/BA in related field of study.
- 3-5 years of experience in payroll system administration and processing.
Preferred Experience & Education
- 5 years of experience in payroll system administration and processing.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Dayforce (formerly known as Ceridian Dayforce) experience is a plus.
