Position Summary:
Salary Range: $130,100 - 195,200 depending on experience and qualifications
Bio-Techne is seeking a highly motivated and creative Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead and architect the design of analytical instruments from concepts to final products. This position will report into the growing development team working with a group of curious, innovative, and supportive engineers and scientists. The candidate would be an individual who is passionate about being an individual contributor while leading a group of mechanical engineers to design new products to create enable better science for our customers.

This position involves the following responsibilities and skills:
- Use system level thinking to come up with designs for new products
- Strong hands-on technical skills and critical thinking to efficiently solve complicated problems by providing mechanical, optical, fluidics, and material solutions
- Expertise in precision mechanical and mechanism design
- Design instruments that integrate optical, liquid handling, and automation systems; proven track record of architecting instruments would be a huge bonus
- Optimize design for manufacturability and facilitate transfer to manufacturing
- Support design optimization on existing products
- Expert in Solidworks, familiar with PDM and PLM systems
- Provide and receive constructive feedback with good intent
- Ability to lead and mentor a group of senior and staff mechanical engineers
- Establish best practices for mechanical design & development
- A thirst to understand science
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required with 10 or more years of related work experience in mechanical engineering and design.
- Prior experience in analytical instrumentation preferred.
- Microfluidic design knowledge is desired.
- Experience in relevant industries designing complex equipment with equal or greater complexity utilizing automation, detection, and high volume production will be considered.
