About BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH)

BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) is a nonprofit organization based in Seattle, working at the crossroads of the private and public sectors to advance research and improve health. BVGH connects people, resources, and ideas across biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, governments, and nonprofits to solve global health issues. BVGH’s work falls under three strategic pillars: expanding access to cancer medicines and technologies in Africa, catalyzing research and development (R&D) for diseases of poverty, and building biomedical R&D capacity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

African Access Initiative (AAI):

BVGH’s African Access Initiative (AAI) aligns companies, African Ministries of Health and hospital leaders, and academic and non-profit organizations to tackle Africa’s cancer crisis. Through AAI, BVGH establishes affordable access to lifesaving oncology medicines and technologies as well as builds clinical oncology capacity. BVGH’s African Consortium for Cancer Clinical Trials (AC³T) is designed to enhance clinical trial capacity and address the cancer data gap in Africa while increasing access to cancer diagnostics and treatments for African patients. Six African countries—Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Senegal—currently participate in AAI.

WIPO Re: Search:

WIPO Re: Search is an international public-private consortium—co-led by BVGH and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)—that catalyzes cross-sector, intellectual property-sharing R&D collaborations and capacity building fellowships to drive innovation for neglected tropical diseases, malaria, and tuberculosis. The Consortium supports achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). BVGH leads WIPO Re: Search Member engagement, partnering, and alliance management, and co-leads program communications.
