POSITION OVERVIEW
The Packaging Designer creates eye-catching packaging that relays product information while driving its purchasing power. The designer will thrive in a highly collaborative process. They work closely with clients and marketing teams to ensure the company s product and brand are represented through the packaging materials. The designer creates prototypes that are cost-effective, sustainable and safe for customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design process for packaging materials for products, including brainstorming, sketching and creating prototypes.
- Keep an active pulse of the market. Evaluates consumer and market trends for packaging materials. Present industry packaging trends to design management, peers, clients, and customers.
- Work with clients to understand their needs and requirements.
- Present designs to clients and stakeholders using sketches and design software; ensures successful representation of clients brands.
- Redesign prototypes based on feedback from clients, engineers and consumer safety groups.
- Collaborate with marketing, creative teams, and copywriters, to create eye-catching designs.
- Manage products within product lifecycle management system (PLM) adhering to the requirements of the organization, clients, customers, and manufacturing partners.
- Develop packaging instructions for our manufacturing partners to create quality and right priced samples against approved concepts. Develop design solutions to accommodate differences in our instruction and manufacturing partners recommendation
- Review and comment on product samples from our manufacturing partners. Update the product development instructions as needed to meet satisfaction of clients, customers, and our own standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education or 2 yrs experience in the field of packaging design
- A versatile portfolio of illustration and graphic design
- Customer centric eye for graphics and high-quality aesthetic
- A passion for fan culture and pop culture product
- Sense of urgency in task completion to meet market demands
- Proficient in digital illustration
- Work experience in the design of graphics for use in apparel and/or accessories
- Experience in product execution through product life-cycle management software (PLM)
- Experience in project management-Defining project criteria and task delegation
- Fluent in: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, & In Design. When given a task to concept an idea the candidate can competently do so without needed instruction on the software
- Fluent in Microsoft Teams & Outlook
- Basic knowledge of making CAD mock-ups of final product
- Versatile in using MAC and Microsoft products
- Retail accessories/apparel experience a plus
