POSITION SUMMARY:
Dispatch drivers in accordance with contract requirements and in compliance with State and Federal regulations. Coordinate scheduling of trips from inception to completion. Direct, lead, and oversee other dispatchers.
Salary: $21-23/hr
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support and assist the Operations Manager to provide positive representation of the Company.
- Monitor the daily driver radio communications; provide driver updates, ensure on-time performance, troubleshoot and respond to driver emergencies, breakdowns and need for assistance.
- Interact with appropriate personnel regarding equipment, driver hours & customer issues.
- Respond to issues in a calm, professional manner, with a clear, distinctive and reassuring voice, in a non-confrontational manner.
- Troubleshoot driver performance issues and report issues to Transportation Supervisor.
- Control costs by monitoring driver hours.
- Serve as liaison between School Districts, clients, outside vendors to coordinate efficient and timely processing of trip requests.
- Prepare computerized trip schedules for drivers detailing pickup/drop off destinations.
- Prepare trip estimates, finalize pricing for all trips, prepare invoices and submit to Transportation Supervisor for approval.
- Log trips and rotation of drivers in database on trip schedules and maintain files on trips by month.
- Route materials in various stages for approval by school districts, clients and account services.
- Communicate to school districts and schools (administrative staff) items of interest when needed.
- Handle problems between drivers and schools pertaining to trips.
- Take and assist in resolution of complaints from parents, schools, transportation directors and customers.
- Process trip changes and communicate changes the drivers when necessary.
- Handle changes to schedules for current week.
- Assist in the operation functions of the School Bus Division.
- Perform the job of a School Bus Driver as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties to meet business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Excellent communications and customer service skills.
- Communicates effectively orally and in written form. Obtains and then passes on information to appropriate individuals.
- Computer literacy including development of spreadsheets and word documents, tracking data and generating reports.
- Computer literacy - knowledge of database software; Internet software; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle difficult situations professionally and in a non-confrontational manner.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
- Works well as part of a team; systematically encourages and supports others.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License.
- Having or obtaining a CDL with P (passenger) and S (School Bus) is REQUIRED within 6 months of hire.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
