RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT/CALL OUT: 22 - Dubuque - Must reside within 20 miles of Dubuque, IA.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides work direction to employees in a safe and efficient manner.
- Train and develop employees in related classifications in which the employees are not fully qualified.
- Oversee equipment utilization, operation and maintenance necessary for the work.
- Promote teamwork to maximize safety and productivity.
- Communicate effectively with management and co-workers.
- Maintain good public relations with customers.
- Perform such work as may be needed to provide and maintain the necessary reports and records required by the Company, Local, State, Federal agencies and/or other regulatory agencies.
- Attend safety meetings and other employee training as assigned.
- Performs other duties, which are similar, related or incidental to this position and may work as directed, in other activities that require skills of a higher classification if qualified, as per Article 15 Section 6.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible to report budgetary needs to work area budget manager(s).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 years of related experience.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Position assignment may require CDL and/or Hazmat endorsement.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of natural gas distribution system, policies and procedures per company O & M manual.
- Good oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work outside in all weather extremes.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers.
- Ability to use hand tools, test equipment, CGI /gas detectors, pressure gauges, line locators.
- Ability to operate equipment and tools related to the field or area of the assigned Foreman’s position.
- Ability to read maps and prints, lay outs and fabricate work.
- Demonstration of strong work ethic.
- Possess ability to work with a variety of field operations people, and learn what they expect, and at the same time education them on corporate expectations.
- Simplify processes so that everyone can understand set procedures/regulations.
- Leadership capabilities required.
- Problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
- Function in a team environment.
- Must be able to understand and follow directions.
- Constant repetitive hand, wrist or elbow motion.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously (67% or more) required to: use fingers and hands, communicate, and have close visual acuity. Employee is frequently (34-66%) required to: ascend/descend stairs, position self to access lower items, and move about the office. The employee may occasionally (less than 33%) be required to: climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and reach. Employee must be able to operate routine office equipment including computers and similar equipment. Must be able to routinely perform this work for an average of 6-8 hours per day and occasional extended hours as necessary. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Very heavy work. Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work environment: Must be able to occasionally perform work indoors and routinely perform work outdoors in sometimes inclement weather with moderate to high noise level. Worker may be subject to hazards including variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working in places of height, or close quarters (i.e., crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms, narrow aisles of passageways). Must be capable of occasional travel (less than 10 days per year) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities.
