Qualifications

• Must be an excellent dog handler!
• The ideal candidate has a passion for dog care and their happiness
• Retail experience
• Some sales experience preferred, but willing to coach the right candidate
• Must have a basic knowledge of dog leashes, collars & other dog merchandise
• Be very attentive to the dogs’ needs
• Feel comfortable handling dogs of all sizes
• Feel comfortable setting standards by upholding policies that help make the cafe an enjoyable space

Responsibilities

• This person will be in the room with the dogs supervising and playing with them
• Be on time for their shifts
• Must be able to greet customers and their dogs with professional customer service
• Must be able to sell all dog products by engaging the customer and learning more about their dog and their needs
• Watch, clean up after, take pictures, and interact with the dogs
• Be extremely responsible – these are live animals that will be in your care – and report any unusual behavior or incidents immediately to supervisor

Full description

This person will be in the room not only supervising and playing with the dogs, but engaging with customers, and driving sales of our dog products. Incentives are given for increasing the number of subscribers to our dog food program. It’s a hands-on position that requires one to give our dogs a lot of love and attention, and for the right person, this is a fun and fulfilling position.

• Be very attentive to the dogs’ needs
• Be on time for their shifts
• Be attentive to customers and anticipate their needs
• Watch, clean up after, take pictures, and interact with the dogs
• Be extremely responsible – these are live animals that will be in your care – and report any unusual behavior or incidents immediately to supervisor
• Be flexible with schedule — availability on weekends and holidays is required
• Feel comfortable handling dogs of all sizes

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

• New York, NY 10024: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Retail sales: 1 year (Required)
• Dog handling: 1 year (Required)
• Dog training: 1 year (Preferred)
• Conflict management: 1 year (Preferred)
