Black & Veatch's Global Advisory organization provides strategic and digital transformation consulting services to the power, energy, gas, and water sectors. We have an immediate need for a professional with functional / technical industry expertise and experience in Gas and Electric Utility Asset Investment Planning and Asset Performance Management solutions. As the Manager, Asset Lifecycle Risk Management (ALRM) you will have the opportunity to contribute to the completion of multiple engagement phases, function in a lead role and manage the client engagement while developing Asset Investment Plans and documenting and improving business processes focused on Asset Risk, Performance and Health.
The Team
The successful candidate will contribute to technical due diligence engagements for multiple types of assets, including but not limited to conventional generation, oil & gas, transmission, water, and/or renewable energy projects on behalf of lenders and investors; initially serving in a supporting role to a multi-disciplinary team of Independent Engineering and Technical Due Diligence consultants. This is a key role on a team of engineers, consultants, and financial analysts, with the expectation to collect and analyze data, develop technical assessment reports, conduct site visits, develop and maintain client contacts, and develop overall project management responsibilities over time. Consultants in this practice generally work on multiple concurrent projects at a given time. This position will report to the transaction solution team within Black & Veatch Global Advisory.
Key Responsibilities
Execution
- Manage part of complex project or simple project related to
- Gas and Electric Utility Asset Investment Planning transformation projects
- Gas and Electric Utility Asset Risk and Performance transformation projects
- Gas and Electric Utilities Business Case Analysis related to Asset Investment, Risk or Performance
- Serve as the ALRM Subject Matter Expert on EAM assessments, selections, designs and implementations
- Develop, present, and defend conclusions, recommendations, and implementation plan
- Identify technical issues impacting an engagement and propose solution.
- Analyze and apply best practices from industry
- Manage client expectations within defined scope of engagement
- Recommend appropriate resources based on the phases of an engagement.
- Manage engagement issues in less complex projects or escalate issues in more complex projects
- Contribute to quality review on own engagement
Team Development
- Delegate and manage work to assigned team members
- Transfer capabilities, and skills to improve others' knowledge and skill levels
- Enhance established working relationships with team members and management from within the client's organization
- Outline specific performance measures, targets, and goals to articulate the business case for realized efficiencies or added value
Business Development
- Assist on business development activities such as RFPs, writing Statements of Work and scoping of change orders
- Develop understanding of wider Black & Veatch Solutions
- Proactively work with client to identify additional scope and areas where Black & Veatch can add value
- Seek attendance and speaking roles at industry conferences
Management Responsibilities
Individual Contributor
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- 5 years of experience with Electric/Gas Distribution & Transmission networks
- 3 years of IT project management with implementation of transformation projects
- Knowledge of a complete engagement lifecycle.
- Business development experience
- Experience with AIP/APM systems like Copperleaf, Hitachi Lumada APM, IPS APM, Asset360 etc.
- 7 years of experience in business/consulting environment or direct utility experience including full lifecycle of Asset Investment, Risk and Performance projects with one or more of the following:
- Experience with Electric Generation, Distribution & Transmission networks, Gas Distribution & Transmission Asset Investment Planning Processes
- Experience performing asset risk analysis
- Experience supporting or preparing testimony and artifacts for regulatory proceedings
- Knowledge of industry leading technology solutions for Asset Investment Planning and Performance Management
- Experience with Electric Generation, Distribution & Transmission networks, Gas Distribution & Transmission Asset and Work Management Processes
- Demonstrated experience leading a project team of technical and functional consultants on Asset Management Consulting projects
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience. 7 years experience in a business/consulting environment. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Certifications
Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable preferred.
