Job description
The Plumbing/Piping Estimator works in collaboration with the Sheet Metal Estimator to fulfill pricing requirements that fall within Blauch Brothers construction group. In addition, the Plumbing/Piping Estimator works collaboratively with other estimators, BBI Service Department, project managers, designers and engineers as well as outside vendors and owners to review drawings and job specifications to compile comprehensive pricing for all construction projects. As Plumbing/Piping Estimator, your role will be crucial as we grow our pool of plan spec and design build work as well as maintain a steady backlog of profitable work for the Construction Team. Additional tasks must be performed as assigned/requested by BBI’s Pre-Construction Manager. This is NOT a supervisory role.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with owners, vendors, job superintendents, project managers, engineers and others to reach our Company mission and vision
- Ensure estimates are submitted within the time frame required by the party soliciting pricing
- Check all forms of communication for proper follow up on estimated work (email, phone, text)
- Compile and process quotes from vendors and sub-contractors to allow for accurate estimation
- Meet and work with customers to go over their needs, research products, design projects, present quotes, and follow up on presented quotes as appropriate
- Work with Pre-Construction Manager to determine which projects to pursue
- Provide close collaboration and clearly communicate with the Construction and Service Business Developers to strengthen our customer pool and come up with ways to deliver exceptional value
- Attend project update meetings, estimating meetings and review labor reports
- Review and understand labor reports with Project Management team
- Attend networking and promotional events
- Attend owner trainings for construction projects in your region
- Complete assigned Departmental strategic initiatives to support business goals
- Work with Estimating Team to improve workflow process
- Participate in annual review of work performance
- Assist the Estimating Department in setting business goals
- Conduct annual customer/prospect evaluation with Pre-Construction Team to determine alignment with BBI's ideal customer profile
- Work seamlessly and collaboratively with Small Projects team to ensure accounts are appropriately being serviced
- Identify and implement cost effective procedures as appropriate
- Attend and participate in required meetings
- Assist with all bid day activities
- Research and recommend procedures in the continuous improvement of the estimating process.
- Assist when needed with pricing for Sheet Metal, Small Projects, and Service Department projects as needed.
- Supports and participates in The Unified Group, trade and peer groups, through attendance at training events, communication via email and responding to other members.
- Collaborate with Service Department to create a seamless process for “pull through” revenue between construction clients and the Service Department.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and be able to improve operations to match industry changes.
- Attend site visits of current construction projects to increase accuracy of future bids.
- Accurately access safety requirements for projects and value for them appropriately.
- Maintain a follow up process with BBI Project Manager to identify process improvement and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in pricing change orders as needed.
- Coordinate the turnover meeting of awarded jobs with Operations Manager and Project Team
- Collaborate in project forecast and project review meetings

- Ability to hear and understand speech in person and over the telephone
- Strong verbal communication skills for clear conversations and convincing written correspondence Frequent field visits required to get out and see the workforce in action (exposure to the elements)
