Job Overview
The Senior Manager, Selling (SMS) is a floor present leader on the forefront of both the colleague and customer experience. Through inspirational leadership style, strong interpersonal skills and business acumen, the SMS guides the selling journey and inspires their team to achieve sales and service results.
The SMS’s primary objective is to drive sales and build customer relationships by training, coaching, and developing a team of professional and hourly colleagues. A Bloomingdale’s SMS oversees a complex, multi-layered, multi-million-dollar component of the overall store business; may include various families of business, professional direct reports, and/or a significant span of control. A successful Bloomingdale’s SMS possesses an inherent passion for people whether it is recruiting, onboarding, and developing their direct reports or ensuring the customer receives an outstanding experience.
Essential Functions
Drive and exceed sales goals by leading Bloomingdale’s initiatives through coaching and recognition, while optimizing productivity and efficiency.
Review and utilize data to provide colleague recognition; and develop and communicate strategies to improve results.
Determine strategies to drive and motivate colleagues to solicit Loyalists.
Continue to build the client relationship through customer acquisition initiatives.
Monitor and address performance issues on a timely basis.
Actively fill open positions – interview, hire, train, direct, manage, coach, develop, coordinate, and evaluate direct and indirect reports; establish strategy for work; provide insight and manage team to meet or exceed performance and behavioral expectations.
Analyze reports to strategize and deliver results; implement action plans focusing on deficient areas and highlight growth opportunities.
Ensure most effective sales floor coverage through the development of workforce solutions and lead selling initiatives throughout the store as needed.
Drive and exceed sales goals through observing, coaching and role modeling customer-centric selling behaviors while providing a fun shopping environment where all customers feel welcome.
Require and champion use of selling technology to support a seamless customer experience.
Lead and educate relationship selling, building a client book, and driving outreach to maximize business.
Direct the execution of merchandising strategies by partnering with the Visual Merchandise Manager / Merchandise Manager.
Provide daily oversight of fulfillment process, track metrics throughout the day to ensure optimum fill rate.
Additional projects as assigned.
Competencies
We encourage candidates with either a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field to apply
3-5 years related experience.
Effectively communicate and present information to store leaders, colleagues and customers, and all levels of internal and external business partners.
Ability to effectively plan and execute strategies adapting quickly to changing priorities; monitoring and maneuvering workflow as needed.
Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels.
Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
Physical Requirements
Requires periods of walking, standing, hearing, talking, reaching with extended arms, crouching, and climbing ladders.
Frequent use of computers and other office equipment.
Requires close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
