The Senior Manager, Communications manages the development and deployment of proactive communications campaigns that drive BCBSA's strategic agenda and raise the Association's visibility as a health policy leader among key audiences, including policymakers, the media, industry influencers and business partners. Coordinate and manage a variety of communication projects cross-functionally within BCBSA and with BCBS Plans.

- Manage the execution of complex integrated, comprehensive communications campaigns that drive the organization's strategic agenda and position BCBSA as the leader in health care.
- Aid in the development of innovative and compelling content that drives BCBSA's strategic agenda and establishes the organization as a thought leader in the industry and in Washington, D.C.
- Draft materials for targeted audiences to ensure a consistent voice across the organization and the Plans, when applicable. Oversee and exercise editorial decision making for key messaging and materials developed by others.
- Collaborate with outside agencies to advance campaigns and enhance the work of the BCBSA communications team. Exercise discretion and authority to manage engagement scope and budget.
- Maintain relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders to ensure integration, coordination and alignment.
- Manage events, sponsorships and other external-facing efforts that drive our strategic agenda and brand awareness.
Education:
- Required: Bachelors Degree
- Preferred: Masters Degree
Required Experience:
- 7 years' communication experience, preferably in support of health care business, policy and advocacy goals
- Previous public relations agency, trade association, political campaign, government or journalism experience
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple work streams simultaneously
- Experience leading project teams and working with outside agencies
- Health care industry experience with a clear understanding of the federal health policy environment - preferred
