What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recruiter position at BLUE NORTHERN DISTRIBUTING?
Due to continued growth, Blue Northern Distributing is looking for a full-time Recruiter. Blue Northern is a distribution company that delivers pre-packaged dairy products to customers in the Chippewa Valley area.
In this role, you will primarily be responsible to source CDL Driver candidates for our Eau Claire and Sparta locations, pre-screen them to ensure they meet Department of Transportation (DOT) and company standards, schedule interviews, perform background checks, and schedule pre-employment drug screens. You may be required to recruit other positions such as warehouse personnel. Our ideal candidate will be required to have some experience in HR, recruiting or staffing. We prefer someone who has experience in the trucking industry, however we are willing to train the right person!
Applicants will be familiar with posting current openings on social media platforms and job boards. They will attend job fairs and collaborate with local truck driving training centers, employment agencies, hiring managers and the leadership team to ensure hiring goals are achieved. They will maintain excellent relationships with all potential applicants, vendors and the public while utilizing creative strategies to find solid candidates in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Locate potential CDL drivers who meet DOT and company standards using job boards, social media platforms, third-parties, education institutions and job fairs in the Chippewa Valley area.
Implement creative recruiting strategies.
Manage and review applications, evaluate candidates, and check their suitability for opportunities.
Communicate with applicants promptly and assist them.
Pre-screen potential CDL Drivers, schedule calls and interviews.
Keep the candidate informed during the hiring process about next steps.
Oversee employee referral program.
Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
Maintain excellent relationship and reputation with applicants and the public.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate degree in human resources preferred.
HR and staffing/recruiting experience required.
Knowledge of general recruiting fundamentals.
Trucking industry experience preferred but not required.
General knowledge of applicable employment and transportation regulations preferred.
Requires superior relationship building skills, strong communications, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong work ethic.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Capable of building working relationships with individuals over the phone.
Ability to collaborate in a team working environment.
Demonstrates strong collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal).
Microsoft Office and web-based software.
The Recruiter will report to the HR Manager. This will be an eight-hour-a-day position during regular business hours located primarily out of our Altoona Business Office. You may on occasion travel to the Sparta location to interview applicants and onboard new employees.
Salary: $21 - $24 per hour plus commission
