Capacity Solutions Manager - Troy, MI

Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring that the transportation network has sufficient capacity to meet the demands of our contractual clients. This role involves coordinating with carriers, negotiating contracts, optimizing routes, and managing resources efficiently.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Be involved in initial meetings with the incumbent carrier base
  • Get connected/Stay Connected
  • Contract submission to Legal
  • ORCA profile completion
• Build Relationships
  • Understand their scope and territory of work
• Aid in building their presence within BG
• Be the voice of the carrier inside our walls
• Monitor Weekly Performance
  • Ensure the carriers are accepting all tenders
    • Monitor PTA
  • Evaluate on time performance
  • Share that data with the carrier
  • Bring issues/topics back to the Ops team to address with the customer
• Manage Carrier Performance
  • Build Carrier Scorecards
    • Identify KPI’s
  • Use Scorecards to discuss improvements
  • Initiate Performance Improvement Plans where necessary
• Utilize the data to identify if new carriers that need to be added
  • Research and bring on new carriers as needed
  • Run Bids if necessary to evaluate this carrier rates
  • Build profiles on potential carriers and bring those opportunities to the ops team

Qualifications:

• Proven ability in negotiating carrier rates, leveraging market insights, volume commitments, and strategic partnerships to secure competitive pricing, optimize transportation budgets, and drive cost savings without compromising service quality or reliability
• Proficient in utilizing Highway to source and secure transportation capacity, demonstrating expertise in navigating the platform's functionalities to match shipment requirements with available carrier capacity, ensuring on-time delivery and optimal resource utilization in dynamic logistics environments
• Skilled in leveraging DAT platform for data mining purposes within transportation operations, adept at extracting valuable insights to identify available trucking capacity, monitor market trends, and strategically match freight shipments with qualified carriers, facilitating efficient and reliable transportation solutions
