Survey Technician

Blythe Development, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, is a licensed general contractor specializing in site work, road construction and golf course construction in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia since 1989. Blythe Development's operations include clearing, grading, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, waterline, curb and gutter, sidewalk, concrete paving, retaining walls, culverts, bridges, stone base and asphalt paving. Blythe Brothers Asphalt Company provides the asphalt services for Blythe Development Co. Our large, experienced workforce enables Blythe Development to self-perform 80% of site groundwork, which gives them greater control than competitors who must subcontract the bulk of the job. Both Blythe Development and Blythe Brothers Asphalt are owned and operated by the Blythe brothers who collectively have over 80 years' experience in site work construction.

Survey Technician

This position requires a knowledge of construction-related survey computations and staking plans as erosion control, utilities, grading, and storm drainage for roadway, commercial and residential construction. Excellent recordkeeping and communications skills are necessary for this position.

• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, hand tools and instruments, materials and supplies used in highway and heavy construction work in a safe manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life

• Experience with robotic total stations and GPS setup and use
• Experience in data collections software including Trimble, Carlson and Top-Con
Critical thinking and problem-solving

Requirements

• Regularly works near moving machinery/tools which requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, must be able to move quickly and have excellent stamina
• Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects (over 50 lbs.), use legs, hips, shoulders, abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time and climb a ladder
