The Project Analyst will be responsible for a full range of activities; monitoring the progress of projects, reviewing budget forecasts, investigating variances, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments are collected. This position will analyze project data, assist with job cost reporting and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness. This role will support and work with Executives and Project Managers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively communicate with Project Executives and Project Managers regarding owner contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing.
- Communicate and coordinate with the Corporate and Field offices regarding any project related issues.
- Set up new projects in the accounting system and maintain project related records in electronic filing systems.
- Post all cash receipts from owners and notify executives and project managers of job payments.
- Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management.
- Compile & report on project profitability (BFR) to management in close connection with the project manager.
- Work with project managers to process all owner billings in the Accounting system and investigate all unbilled project expenses.
- Reconcile billings and calculate cash flow analysis.
- Generate and distribute regular receivables reports to management.
- Prepare special project analyses for PMs and PXs as requested.
- Job close out upon project completion.
- Provide support and compile information for internal and external auditors, as required.
- Perform additional assignments, as directed by the Project Controller.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree in business or accounting, or 5 years of experience as a Project Accountant for a general contractor with detailed knowledge of owner contracts and change order documents.
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including strong experience in MS Word, MS Excel and project accounting software. Sage 300 (Timberline) experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative, set priorities, work independently while adapting to processes, and see projects through to completion.
- Strong commitment to customer service.
