Independently conducts legal research, drafts legal documents of greater complexity, and performs other legal related duties under the guidance of BNY Mellon attorneys. In some areas of the firm may focus on legal activities related to investment advisory services, fund management, product development, or trust administration.Drafts, prepares and processes complex legal documents for general or specific areas of BNY Mellon's legal practice including corporate secretarial, subsidiary and business committees, business lines and departments, and/or designated clients, regulators, investors, outside attorneys and Bank customers.Conducts review of legal briefs, motions, contracts, other court filings and fund documentation. May assist attorneys by preparing initial drafts.Compiles complex information from a variety of bank sources and prepares responses to legal information requests from outside counsel, judicial bodies, investors or other stakeholders. Maintains and updates database files and electronic documentation systems that preserve and protect sensitive information.Independently conducts fact-finding and legal or regulatory research. Prepares findings for review by attorneys. May provide input into potential actions or subsequent research based on findings. Directly communicates with outside counsel and staff on engagements, arranging critical exchange of information, and reviewing incoming documents for relevance and proper dispensation. May do a preliminary review of content and provide an overview for attorneys.As a senior professional, may lead a project team of other paralegals or legal support staff involved with large-scale legal matters.No direct reports,, provides guidance to less experienced colleagues as needed. Takes lead on projects and initiatives.Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives.Modified based upon local regulations/requirements.Bachelor‘s degree or paralegal certificate, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.3-5 years of total work experience preferred.
