Enterprise Data Management leads BNYM’s enterprise data strategy, data solutions, data operations, data utilities and data governance for the Firm. Our Team’s mission is to build firm-wide platforms to unlock the power of data at BNY Mellon.
The Data Governance team primary role is to maintain the framework to govern the management of data assets. The team publishes & updates policies and procedures that guide and control data management and usage, provides Data Governance tools including data quality monitoring and issue management to manage data across the Bank, and delivers data supply chain capabilities to view the origin and destination of data.
We’re seeking a future team member in the role of Senior Group Manager, Data Governance to join our Enterprise Data Management team. This role is in New York, NY - HYBRID.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Manages multiple data management teams through subordinate managers. Oversees data management and/or quantitative analysis activities including the preparation of data sets and the conduct of statistical, financial, and econometric modelling for internal or external clients.
- Leads the data management activities for assigned area. Manages and executes implementation plans for process improvements. Ensures staff have all required resources to execute their assigned activities.
- Accountable for the performance and results of the function. Manages data vendor relationships. Ensures system costs are understood and contracts are managed appropriately. Establishes procedures for implementation of new data related technology enhancements / implementations.
- Ensures more junior managers compliance with the Banks standards and best practices. Designs business-appropriate system controls and enforces adherence to controls. Leads the team’s analysis of client and business needs through more junior managers.
- Leads the team’s production of management reporting and analyses. Ensures the quality of day-to-day services provided is in line with service level agreements in place for each client and contributes to the achievement of functional performance targets. Ensures business requirements are executed as expected.
- Establishes the strategic focus for the function and ensures that functional goals align with the objectives of the enterprise. Recruits, directs, motivates, and develops more junior managers, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth, and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. Implements performance management programs and handles manager performance reviews.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Advanced degree, preferably in business management or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required 10 years of related project management experience required, experience with technology and/or the financial services industry is a plus.
- Experience planning and managing a large program consisting of multiple business critical projects.
- Has assisted in resource allocation and financial analysis as part of the budget reporting. Capable of proactively identifying core problems or opportunities within business processes.

Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.7-10 years of total work experience with at least 1-3 years in management preferred. BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $119,000 and per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
