POSITION SUMMARY: The person in this role is a primary contributor in providing software solutions including design, code, and testing for a variety of academic and non-academic application systems.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interacts with end users for clarification of requirements as needed
- Coordinates with Business Analysts on requirements, designs, and testing related to assigned projects
- Recommends software solutions for solving business needs
- Assists in the design, development, and support of various business software applications and integrations
- Writes program specifications as needed from business requirements and converts designs and specifications into computer code
- Provides unit and system level test planning, scripting and execution to validate solutions
- Supplies documentation on code, procedures, and integrations
- Provides technical assistance to inquiries regarding errors, problems or questions with programs and integrations
- Maintains working knowledge of current technologies through peer interaction and independent study
- Provides work estimates, schedules, and progress reports as needed
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of object-oriented software technology
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Very good communication skills: written and oral
- Good working experience with web and compiler-based programming tools that may include Java, JavaScript, PowerBuilder, HTML, CSS, Python, Django, Dynamics 365, Boomi
- A working knowledge of relational database interactions in the DB2 and MS SQL Server platforms
- Ability to work effectively in a project alongside team members
- Willing to learn new skills and technologies
- Understanding of the University's goals and objectives
