The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Senior Landing Gear and Hydraulic Systems Design and Analysis Engineer to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, OK.

A successful member of this team will understand and execute modifications and upgrades for the Airborne Surveillance Command and Control (ASC2), Bombers, or the Executive Transport Services & Systems (ETS&S) programs.

Position Responsibilities:

(Level 4)

  • Lead and provide technical quality review of the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid systems to establish the system design

  • Lead activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements

  • Lead the development, maintenance, or modification of system components' designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation

  • Lead technical meetings and planning efforts, presents technical information to wide range of audiences

  • Manage supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals

  • Prioritize, delegate and track performance and documentation of analyses of fluid systems/mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design

  • Support proposal preparation and new business development efforts

  • Train and coach others

  • Work under minimal direction

Level 5

  • Direct the development and documentation of large scale, complex mechanical and fluid systems to establish the system design

  • Develop new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort

  • Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirement

  • Serve as technical consultant for disposition, corrective actions and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to production processes

  • Direct activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements

  • Direct the development, maintenance, or modification of system components' designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation

  • Direct technical meetings and planning efforts, presents technical information to wide range of audiences

  • Coach and mentor others

  • Work under consultative direction

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 5 years of experience with hydraulic and/or mechanical control systems

  • 3 years of experience with basic aerodynamics/fluid mechanics principles

  • 1 years of experience working conceptual, preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • (Level 5) 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance or higher

  • 5 years of experience reading and interpreting engineering schematics, and specifications

  • Demonstrated project management skills within a fast paced highly integrated environment

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct technical meetings and planning

  • Experience performing hydraulic system analysis, preferably using MATLAB, FluidMaster, and/or Easy5 software

  • 4 years of experience designing tooling using CAD/CAM software, preferably CATIA

  • Experience producing technical reports and presentations

  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills

  • Knowledge of structural design principles for aircraft primary structures, secondary structures, interior payloads

  • Familiarity with engineering processes and methods

  • Experience working with cross functional teams

  • Experience with Model Based Development tools

Typical Education/Experience: 

Level 4

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD 4 years' related work experience, Master 7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 5

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD 9 years' related work experience, Master 12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range (Level 4): 107,100 – 144,900

Summary pay range (Level 5): 127,500 – 172,500
