The Challenge:

As a digital transformation architect, you know that implementing improved digital initiatives with effective technology scouting is crucial for your client’s future. You’re eager to apply your consulting experience and full defense and national security knowledge to develop creative solutions. We’re looking for someone like you to apply your knowledge and help organizations solve their traditional business challenges with new digital strategies and solutions. 

As a technology scout on our team, you’ll scan the private sector for solutions that accelerate innovation for federal clients. Using open-source information and subscription-based research tools, you will synthesize market research and technical information to clarify emerging technologies for both internal and external clients and recommend strategies for future use and adoption. You will develop and maintain relationships with federal clients, conduct vital research, leverage Booz Allen’s deep pool of technical talent, create presentations highlighting key insights from your research, and deliver compelling briefings to both internal and external audiences.

In this role, you’ll participate in problem curation and scoping sessions with clients to define addressable gaps and opportunities, conduct market research to determine potential solutions and technology ecosystems of interest, evaluate a variety of commercial ecosystem indicators including market size and growth, venture funding, or startup activity, evaluate technical indicators including technology maturity level, foundational core components, or projected advancements, recommend potential technical solutions or startup partners to clients, and facilitate demonstrations with startups. You Have:   

  • Experience with independent, self-directed research
  • Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative market research, including venture funding analyses, market maps, competitive analyses, SWOT analyses, or product deep dives
  • Ability to distill complex topics into core concepts understandable by general audiences
  • Ability to communicate expectations and deliverables effectively to clients
  • Ability to collaborate as part of a team environment
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:   ​

  • 2 years of experience in management consulting, venture capital, R&D, startup ecosystems, or product development approaches
  • Experience prototyping a product or solution
  • Possession of strong communication skills
  • Possession of excellent presentation skills, both in-person or via teleconference
  • Master's degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $65,400.00 to $149,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
