Job Summary:
Prairie Farms Dairy, Battle Creek operates as a dairy manufacturing plant and distribution center that covers the whole state of MI and some of the surrounding states. We make dairy products that are then distributed to retail outlets, warehouses, hospitals, correctional facilities, retirement homes, food service warehouses, schools and colleges throughout Michigan.
As the Warehouse manager you will be responsible for managing the day to day operations and directing all areas of the warehouse and yard.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive and continuously improve the day-to-day operations in a fast-growth environment,
- Oversees and coordinates all load out activities
- Maintain high levels of accuracy in daily load out operations
- Review Warehouse Cooler/Yard processes, design and implement changes, including retraining of warehouse personnel as needed
- Leads direct & Manages Supervisors & Employees assigned within the different departments of the warehouse
- Trains and develops employees to perform numerous tasks within the warehouse departments
- Manage all staff scheduling and attendance based on the needs of the warehouse
- Identify, interview, and train talent for the department including but not limited to coaching, training, scheduling, disciplinary functions
- Sets expectations for supervisors and leads
- Works with HR to maintain adequate staffing
- Works well under pressure
- Ability to work in cold (non-weather) temperatures
- Follow and enforce all safety and security procedures regarding GMPs, SOPs and Quality standards
- Implements procedures to effectively complete warehouse activities
- Effectively utilize time available to achieve results through prioritizing demands
- Maintains an air of professionalism and communicates effectively
- Demonstrates problem solving and decision making ability
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- DSD experience is required
- Perishable food experience, required
- Dairy experience is a plus
- 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience in warehouse/distribution center operations
- 2 years of experience with Microsoft Excel
- 2 years analyzing data associated with processes, identifying opportunities, and providing recommendations for improvement
- 2 years of experience with Occupational Safety Regulations
- Computer literacy
- Ability to operate a forklift preferred
