What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitation Worker position at Borden?
Summary: The sanitation worker performs all general cleaning procedures involved in the manufacturing process. The following positions are included in rotation but not limited to, Cut and Clean, Conveyors, Blenders, Grinders, Auger’s, Stuffer, Cooker, Surge tank, EMC tanks, Fill area, Scale and Sealing areas
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Have the proper knowledge of the use of PPE equipment.
- Be able to operate all the equipment in each production room and the have the proper Knowledge of LOTO for each piece of equipment
- Have the proper training and the knowledge of chemical usage.
- Be responsible for all associated paperwork as it relates to current needs for master sanitation, safety and
BRC Requirements.
- Be able to properly test chemical strengths.
- Be able to communicate, direct and train new staff as needed.
- Be able to follow all safety policies and safety procedures as required.
- Ability to assemble and disassemble equipment.
- Follow operational procedures and complete required paperwork on a daily basis.
- Follow GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices), quality control, cleaning and sanitation SOPs.
- Have the knowledge of the CIP and COP procedures.
- Cover all electrical panels, controls and motors to protect from water.
- Know the color code procedures.
- Know the proper drain cleaning procedures.
- Assist with production when needed.
- Maintains continuity among work teams with good communicating actions.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Assist in any other areas of the manufacturing plant when necessary.
Qualification/Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent skills by experience.
- Must be fork truck certified as needed.
- Must be able to read, interpret and understand written and oral directions in English.
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies.
- Must demonstrate basic math skills to calculate and understand weights and measures.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms on a repetitive basis. The employee must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push/pull exerting up to 70 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Requires visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. There is exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to heat/cold temperature changes and wet conditions.
