BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Global Supply Management (GSM) Intern at our Kokomo Technical Center (KTC) in Kokomo, Indiana. In this role, and under direct supervision of the Director, Advanced Launch Management, the GSM Intern will be primarily responsible for supporting ALMs, GCMs, and Prototype Buyers in the sourcing activity of new prototype and production components and the launch readiness of BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems’ future product launches for the Noblesville Technical Center. Key Accountabilities: Support the sourcing activity of new prototype and production programs Participate in supplier negotiations and support the preparation for those negotiations Participate in cross functional teams including Engineering, Program Management, Supplier Development and Manufacturing Site Team Support Advance Launch Managers (ALMs) in managing launch reports, cost walks, and one page summaries Support ALMs and Global Commodity Managers (GCMs) in the sourcing of new components Support ALMs launch readiness reviews with the cross-functional team which would include follow up on action items assigned from those reviews helping to drive accountability within the team SAP supplier master data base maintenance Support management of supplier tooling including the online supplier tooling database New supplier creation Participate in prototype and production supplier scorecard meetings Participate in program kickoff reviews with the rest of the GSM Team to outline key program deliverables Attend and support on-site prototype and production supplier visits Assist in researching new prototype suppliers Assist in exploring new technologies that provide a competitive advantage Attend weekly PowerDrive Systems PTC (Propulsion Technical Center) and NTC overview and update sessions Host weekly meeting to review project status Other projects as deemed necessary by the ALM and GCM Teams Exhibit overall process discipline within the GSM function Qualifications & Experience: Undergraduate student in their Sophomore or Junior year attending an accredited university majoring in Global Supply Management or Supply Chain Management Ability to work full time in summer Must be local to the Kokomo, IN area Minimum GPA of 3.0 required SAP experience preferred Negotiation & contract management experience preferred Supplier relationship management & development preferred Understanding of manufacturing processes preferred Detailed Oriented Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills Highly collaborative and team oriented High proficiency in MSOffice, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Self-motivated individual Ability to interface at all levels within the organization in a professional manner BorgWarner Competencies: Learning on the Fly Action Oriented Functional/Technical Skills Self Knowledge Informing Customer Focus Creativity Personal Learning Presentation Skills Priority Setting Ethics and Values Listening Process Management Drive for Results Time Management Interpersonal Savvy Safety This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner ITC/WHQ Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.
