What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pediatric Immunization Nurse position at Borinquen Health Care Center?
Borinquen Medical Centers is based in Miami, Florida and is seeking to hire a full-time Medical Assistant or LPN as an Immunization Nurse. The position of Immunization Nurse will be responsible to administer immunizations to infants, children, and adolescent and documents the administration in the EMR. Verify FL and patient’s vaccine history before administering vaccines.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care.
- Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Translate when it is necessary.
- Filling immunization reports and forms, administration of medications and vaccines as well as to give parents VIS form before administering vaccines, ordering immunizations.
- Order medical supplies and maintain inventory.
- Order vaccine and vaccine administration supplies and maintain inventory.
- Able to perform different treatments and procedures in patients when required such as but not limited to: aerosols, injection, immunizations, dipstick, ear lavage, dispense medications, wound care, etc.
- Assist the supervisor as unusual problems arise.
- Support staff in assigned project-based work and provide clinical support to Medical Assistant personnel and Providers.
- Schedule patient appointments, respond to e-mails on a daily basis, return patients phone calls, and answer calls from pharmacies and hospitals.
- Verify oxygen tank levels and order refill; Verify refrigerator and freezer temperature.
- Manage Florida Shots Program; update and print Florida Shorts Certificates.
- Address all task and orders as they appear in Athena.
- Provide TB test results; Responsible to register patient for referrals with the Department of Health as well as give proper instructions to patient in the event there is a positive TB result.
- Complete forms for aerosol machine and give instructions to parents on how to properly operate.
- Get metabolic screening result from Tallahassee for newborns.
- Complete nurse visit encounters.
- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Medical Assistant or LPN with experience administering vaccines to pediatric patients.
- Current CPR Certification.
- 0-2 years of experience in a related field. Immunization experienced preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with consumers, administration, faculty, and staff.
- Handle the information with high level of confidentiality.
- Considerable knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a field.
- Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
