POSITION TITLE:Production Floor Lead

REPORTS TO: Production Floor Supervisors, Control Room Supervisors/Production Managers

FLSA: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Pay Range: $16.75 - $16.75

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:The primary responsibility of workers in this position is to assist with supervision and training of General Labor employees within the production area. Production Floor Leads also work directly with Production Floor Supervisors and Control Room Supervisors to ensure the quality and packaging of produce meets the company’s standards and company policies are being followed.

• Train, educate and ensure the accurate packing material, PLUs, and fruit quality is being packed by general labor employees.
• Assist with supervising general labor employees and provide continuous training on quality standard expectations and company policies.
• Communicate and document disciplinary actions to general labor employees when applicable.
• Report to supervisors, management and HR of any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
• Communicate with Quality Control and Supervisors regarding questions and issues with quality and safety in the production process.
• Provide coverage for general labor duties on a temporary basis if needed.
• Maintain proper inventory levels of packing materials throughout the shift.
• Observe conveyor belt operation during production to make sure fruit is being processed through the machine efficiently and notify appropriate personnel of any mechanical issues.
• Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), maintain sanitary conditions and ensure product quality is maintained.
• Other duties as identified or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to understand how to use a weight scale.
• Ability to work in a warehouse / manufacturing environment with variable temperatures.
• Ability to effectively communicate via written, verbal and face-to-face.
• Knowledge of fruit varieties, sizes, and grades.
• Experience in fruit industry warehouse procedures preferred.
• English / Spanish bilingual preferred.
• Additional evening / weekend work may be required.

EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• No related work experience required.
• In general, Production Floor Lead obtain their skills through on-the-job training.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires frequent periods of standing, walking, lifting and maneuvering up to 48 lbs., pulling/pushing objects, climbing stairs, grasping, bending, and reaching. The position is primarily completed in an outdoor area, exposed to the elements (heat and cold).
