Job Description
Are you a Mechanical Engineer with structural design experience and a passion for sound/audio? We have an exciting opportunity for you! Join our team in Burnsville, MN where you will support the design and development of portable loudspeaker systems and suspension systems.
As a Development Engineer, you will:
- Design and develop Electro-Voice (EV) and Bosch loudspeaker products.
- Research new technologies and materials for use in: high power transducers, loudspeaker enclosures, loudspeaker suspension systems and arrays.
- Model and simulate suspension systems, enclosures, waveguides, driver chassis and other mechanical components using Solidworks, MATLAB, COMSOL and other simulation software.
- Design for manufacture optimization with factories and vendors.
- Assemble prototype loudspeakers and perform hands on design iteration.
- Development of test and design verification for functional and reliability testing including testing of speaker components and complete systems (powered and passive).
- Evaluate loudspeaker system and speaker component performance and reliability, failure modes and root cause failure analysis.
- Manage documentation including 3D files and bills of materials.
- Verify complete products for conformance to design specifications, operational and safety standards such as DGUV Rev. 17, ANSI 1.8-2018, ISO 12100:2010(E), CE, UL, Eurocode, EN1991-4.
- Work in team environment with Project Mangers to maintain schedules for assigned tasks, and product costs.
- Work with manufacturing to improve quality and costs and support sample builds.
- Deliver designed and optimized product solutions following projects from conception to mass production.
- Support projects during full life cycle, work with quality and service departments to solve ongoing quality issues should they arise.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Structural engineering functional knowledge.
- Experience with 3D CAD (preferred program is Solidworks).
- Experience with FEA for mechanical systems.
- Ability to innovate as part of an industry leading R&D team.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Passion for music is a must have.
- Passion for product development of the highest standard is required.
Preferred:
- Experience designing, modeling, simulating and testing structures and their components.
- Experience designing and testing passive and powered professional loudspeaker systems including rigging, transport, system drive, and amplification.
- Knowledge and application of wood box construction, plastics molding, steel forming and aluminum casting methods.
- Knowledge of: UL, CE, DGUV Rev. 17, ANSI 1.8-2018, ISO 12100:2010(E), CE, UL, Eurocode, EN1991-4.
