Job Description:
Within the Powertrain Solutions division in Phoenix, AZ, BOSCH is improving the quality of life by working to bring zero emission propulsion systems to the North American market (and globally) together with our OEM partners. A leading technology, especially for large commercial vehicle applications such as long-haul trucks, Hydrogen Fuel cells produce electricity via an electrochemical conversion of hydrogen gas and oxygen, with the only exhaust byproduct being water and heat.
As a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Service and Repair Technician, the successful candidates will work alongside experienced system, design, component, and manufacturing engineers and fellow technicians throughout various aspects of the service and maintenance process during the pre-series and series phases of the customer project. Majority of the activities will be within the customer’s manufacturing plant, but also at various service dealerships across the US.
Responsibilities:
- Mechanical and electrical service and repair of hydrogen fuel cell power modules in heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
- Write and/or follow process repair / service documents and work instructions.
- Evaluate system design and recommend continuous improvements in design, integration, and regular maintenance.
- Read & follow mechanical/electrical drawings, bill of materials (BOMs), system process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
- Participate in problem solving process.
- Support coordination of materials for service and repairs.
- Communicate status, results, next steps, etc. with OEM customers, dealership counterparts, internal colleagues, etc.
Technology Domains:
- PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) Fuel Cell Stacks and Systems.
- Automotive/mobile applications including commercial fuel cell electric vehicles.
We are looking for technicians...
- Who are good communicators; able to explain complex mechanical/electrical systems in simple terms to others in verbal, written, and visual forms.
- That have a team-oriented, self-directed personality and strong inter-personal and organizational skills.
- Who are willing to learn via various methods, including external courses, internal seminars (Local and abroad), and self-driven means.
- Willing to travel and work at other sites, as required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and follow mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools.
- Various positions available: ranging from 1 - 5 years minimum experience in automotive or energy systems service and repair.
Preferred:
- INCA Calibration Tool knowledge and experience.
- Measurement data analysis with ETAS MDA.
- Hydrogen Fuel Cell system knowledge.
- Work well in teams, take direction from others, and contribute ideas/solutions, including Continuous Improvement (CIP) mindset for optimizing on-the-ground processes.
- Ability and willingness to work in areas outside main area of responsibility.
