Job Description

Provide direct support to the Associate Chair of the Biology Department and the Undergraduate Program Director in the implementation of undergraduate degree programs in biology and biochemistry for a thousand students.  Provide direct and ongoing academic advising and engagement with students. Manage undergraduate research opportunities. Organize career and professional development programs for undergraduate students. Manage communications between biology faculty and undergraduate students. Work closely with multiple departments across the university to support student success. Assist and support department activities.


Responsibilities include:

  • Assist Undergraduate Program Director with analysis and qualification of the undergraduate program
  • Manage program policies and procedures
  • Organize and coordinate undergraduate programs
  • Plan and coordinate professional development programs
  • Engaging biology and biochemistry alumni in student programming
  • Design and develop statistical records for bench-marking and tracking the undergraduate program
  • Assist undergraduate students and faculty with program issues
  • Assist in developing and managing a mentoring program for undergraduates from underrepresented backgrounds
  • Support the Gateway Scholars Program
  • Manage and track the undergraduate program budget
  • Serve as primary resource for students to access information across campus
  • Stay current on trends and competing academic programs

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $52,400 to $65,500; salary commensurate with relevant experience.



Requirements

Bachelor’s degree is required, with a degree in Life Sciences preferred. Two years of experience required with the following qualities:

  • Demonstrates a high degree of initiative
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills and use of Google applications
  • Database management
  • Knowledge of University systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines
  • Experience with handling confidential and sensitive matters
  • Familiarity with undergraduate biology curriculum preferred
