What are the responsibilities and job description for the Events Lead position at Boston Consulting Group?
We are seeking a confident and creative Events Lead to join the Chicago Operations team. Reporting directly to the Office Experience and Events Manager, the Events Lead oversees the strategy and delivery of internal and external office events, conferences and initiatives, and contributes to the development of key partnerships and programs. The Event Lead will be responsible for line management of the events team members, programming, planning, execution and debriefs of all Chicago events. The Events Lead is an innovative and sophisticated thinker with a strong logistical background, an ability to thrive in an analytic environment, who finds fulfillment in building community through events.
Events
- Responsible for the end-to-end management of events including, but not limited to: internal affiliation events, curated programs and committees, community service initiatives, family oriented parties and retreats, and off-site events
- In partnership with the Office Experience and Events Manager, develops events programming that infuses the BCG brand, values, and office aspirations into new and existing events.
- Ensures all event logistics are facilitated, including event response management, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) diligence, and debriefs conducted
- Responsible for adherence to all liability, confidentiality, health and safety requirements
- Cultivates and curate’s relationships with vendors, partners, and local businesses and leads the events team as a core resource for all Chicago area events
- Directly plans large-scale and high stakes events including 800 person staff retreats and parties, Partner retreats, etc.
- Diligently tracks Events budgets, keeping the Office Experience and Events Manager in the loop with regular budget updates
- Responsible for overseeing Event/Venue contract execution, working closely with BCG Meetings & Events team and BCG Legal to ensure protection for BCG
Marketing and Communications
- Drives strategy and execution of local and system communication, working closely with leadership to ensure all necessary communications are planned and executed in a timely manner
- Works with Internal Communications (Events Senior Specialist) to develop and design branded event collateral, invitations, and other marketing materials
- Creates polished presentations and decks as they relate to specific projects and events
Communications/Research
- Responsible for developing office-wide affiliation calendar and communication plan
- Researches new opportunities within the Chicago community including but not limited to cultural institutions, venues, vendors and potential business relationships
- Maintains resource files of sites, hotels, meeting rooms, and associated vendors
- Creates surveys and analyzes data as it relates to event attendance and feedback
Customer Service
- Exudes a hospitality mindset with a hyper focus on the total customer service experience
- Leads Events Team as diligent liaisons for all BCG subcommittees, including but not limited to: DEI Networks, Inclusion Accelerator, and Cohort Social Chairs

- 5 years of event planning experience required
- Some travel required
- Extended and evening hours will be required during peak demand season and events
- Computer proficiency: Microsoft Suite, Photoshop or InDesign, Salesforce Suite, CRM
